Question:

Re: CQD answer published Tuesday, October 20, 2015 -Grounding Vs Bonding Termination

Good Morning Charlie,

Thank you for your contributions to our industry and the answers to many questions. Just wanted to clarify that on Toby's question there could be some confusion if NEC article 250-104(A2) is construed to be an allowed GEC termination point as opposed to a water pipe bonding point. Just wanted to note the difference. Thank you for your time and shared knowledge.

Answer:

Hey Kelly thanks for the kind words and your comment, it is a good point to clarify. Section 250.104(A) applies to bonding of metal water piping systems and 250.104(A)(2) is specific to multiple occupancy buildings having isolated water piping systems. That condition wasn't mentioned in the original question and wouldn't change the rule for the grounding electrode conductor termination in 250.24(A)(1).
