In regards to multi-wire branch circuits: One huge disadvantage to multi-wire circuits is that there can be no GFCI-protection for receptacles in bathrooms or elsewhere, if the circuit is wired in such a way that neutral current from each phase conductor passes through the GFCI device.

Hey Curt thanks for your comment and the kind words. Actually a 2 pole GFCI circuit breaker can be used on a multi-wire branch circuit. GFCI receptacles could be used by transitioning to a two-wire circuit(s) at some point or they can be installed at each outlet.
