Question:
If the main electrical service to a residential property is a 200amp all-in-one (meter main and 40 space distribution) can a 200amp circuit breaker be installed as overcurrent protection for a remotely located subpanel served by that same 200 amp main panel?
Neal Harvey
A
Answer:
Hey Neal thanks for your question. If I understand it correctly and if a 200 ampere circuit breaker is available for that service equipment then yes. The conductors and overcurrent devices must be suitable for the load as stated in 215.2 and 215.3. The panelboard must also comply with 408.30 and 408.36.
