Greetings Code Question.
Is an equipment grounding conductor required for a 2000 amp parallel feeder installed between two enclosures and the installation is in six 4-inch EMT conduits?

Answer:
Hello Allen,
We will answer the question at face value. Section 250.118 indicates that EMT is an equipment grounding conductor. If the EMY is continuous between enclosures and installed with listed fittings and adequately secured and supported, the equipment grounding conductor requirements of the NEC are already met. There is no need for a wire-type equipment grounding conductor in each of the EMT of the parallel arrangement. It is advisable to refer to the local AHJ and project specifications which may require a wire-type EGC. That would be over and above the NEC minimum.
