Question:
Can mc cable be used for emergency circuits in a outpatient facility (medical)? I read art. 517.30, but I believe that is for hospitals. I read 700.9b---701.10--702.9 and they all mention the use of cables. I am a little confused.

Answer:
Hey Mike thanks for your question. I believe you are referencing earlier NEC sections because they are now all in the .10 section of 700, 701, and 702. Keep in mind that those rules vary based on the type of system and circuit.
Unless electrical life support equipment is required or critical care areas are present 517.30 through 517.35 do not apply as stated in 517.45(B) and 517.45(C) and MC Cable is allowed.
