Greetings,

Can you use individual #6 or #4 gauge THHN wires to connect a 60amp breaker behind drywall and across garage attic without conduit? to connect to 240v Outlet?

Answer:

Hello Peter,

Branch circuit wiring is required to be installed using one of the suitable wiring methods as provided in Chapter 3 of the NEC. Sections 110.8 and 300.1. The individual conductors mentioned in the question appear to be just run in the open across the garage attic with being installed in a conduit, tubing, or suitable cable assembly. It is also important to hire a qualified licensed electrical contractor for this work and have it inspected by the applicable authority having jurisdiction for Code compliance.
