Question:

Morning! I had a customer call and ask if our products are NEC code certified/ up to code? We provide security cages that go over electrical boxes - they all have access doors to provide full access to box-  What exactly does he need to know? Is there a rule for this?

Answer:

Hey Marissa thanks for your question. I am not aware of a NEC requirement for security cages or for them to be certified. There are products used to provide protection for smoke detectors and similar equipment that are listed.

You can contact Underwriters Laboratories (www.ul.com/ ) and ask if they can certify the security cages you make.
