Question:
Does the wiring in a SIP panel have to be clamped to the electrical boxes?
Dennis Richardson
A
Answer:
Hey Dennis thanks for your question. Yes. In general cables must be secured to boxes as stated in the last sentences of 314.17(B) and 314.17(C). For Structural Insulated Panels (SIP), that are already installed, wiring such as nonmetallic sheathed cable is allowed to be fished and be unsupported as stated in 334.30(B) but there is no exception that fits that usage for not securing the cables to boxes.
