Question:
I am replacing a 400 amp main panel that feeds 6 100 amp sub panels, none of the sub panels have a ground wire run to it now. Do I need to add a ground wire to each sub panel?

A
Answer:
Hey Kelly thanks for your question. Maybe. Panelboards must be connected to an equipment grounding conductor as stated in 408.40. If the wiring method is one of the types in 250.118 the wiring method such as metal conduit can be the equipment grounding conductor.
