Question:
What is pressure piling?
A
Answer:
An explosion in a box causes hot gasses to compress the existing gasses in a raceway. That causes a secondary explosion which may rupture the conduit ... or ... the process may repeat and, in effect, create a pipe bomb in a hazardous location. This process, much like a diesel engine, is pressure piling and the reason for conduit seals. From general hazardous locations theory.
