Question:
Are any Code restrictions that prohibit a panelboard from being located in the bathroom? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Travis S.
A
Answer:
Hey Travis, NEC 230.70(A)(2) doesn't permit the service disconnecting means to be installed in a bathroom. NEC 240.24(E) prohibits overcurrent devices, other than supplementary overcurrent protection, from being located in bathrooms in dwelling units and guest rooms or guest suites of hotels and motels.
You didn’t specify what type of occupancy but it looks like bathrooms in industrial, commercial and the common elements of multi-family dwelling are covered by 230.70(A)(2) and are not covered by 240.24(E).
