IBEW Joins Industry Groups, OSHA For Safety Partnership

"...[T]he business of building and maintaining distribution lines, transmission lines and substations is still risky," the IBEW Journal states, despite the safety improvements that have taken place in the industry since the Brotherhood formed in 1891.

To continue improving safety and to reduce injuries and fatalities in the electrical transmission and distribution contracting industry, the IBEW, the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA), the Edison Electric Institute (EEI) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) have formed the Strategic Safety Partnership. The partnership hopes to come together to identify, evaluate and control hazards to those in the industry.
