Safety Topic: Seasonal Influenza & COVID-19

Dec 08, 2021

While seasonal flu viruses are detected year-round in the United States, flu viruses are most common during the fall and winter. The exact timing and duration of flu season varies, but activity often begins to increase in October. Influenza (flu) and COVID-19 are both contagious respiratory illnesses, but they are caused by different viruses. It is possible to have flu and COVID-19 at the same time. Some of the symptoms of flu and COVID-19 are similar, making it hard to tell the difference between them based on symptoms alone. Diagnostic testing can assist with making this determination. Take action to protect yourself against both illnesses. More information can be found in the Safety Topic Seasonal Influenza and COVID-19.
