Question:
What is the maximum voltage drop for any branch circuit installed in a sensitive electronic equipment panel board?
-Timothy Hardt
A
Answer:
Hi Tim,
Not many questions are submitted related to sensitive electronic equipment. Sensitive electronic equipment is address by Article 647 of the NEC. The maximum percentage of voltage drop on the branch circuits in a sensitive electronic equipment panel board is 1.5 %. The total combined voltage drop (feeder and branch circuit) shall not exceed 2.5%. Sensitive electronic equipment falls under Chapter 6 of the NEC which addresses special equipment. The requirements in Article 647 supplement and/or modify the rules in chapters 1 through 7 as indicated in 90.3
