A
Answer:
Hi Dale, the manufacturer of the electrical equipment makes the determination as to whether or not the water-damaged electrical equipment can be reused. Section 110.11 of the NEC™️ provides some general guidance on electrical equipment exposed to deteriorating agents like sewer water from flooding. There are also some additional resources/publications on this topic from The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA):
NEMA GD 1-2019 - Evaluating Water-Damaged Electrical Equipment
NEMA Policy on Reconditioned Electrical Equipment.
It is always advisable to contact your local AHJ when dealing with water-damaged electrical equipment as they may have local codes or ordinances that address this situation.
