Hello,
Section 110.12 requires electrical equipment be installed in a neat and workmanlike manner. Can anyone explain what that means, because the NEC seems to fall short of describing this. I think workmanship is in the eyes of the beholder.

Hi Daniel,
Thanks for the question. You are correct, "neat and workmanlike" is a general requirement for electrical installations and the Code does not describe it. It really is related to the training and experience of the installer. The Informational Note following 110.12 refers to NECA-1 Standard for Good Workmanship in Electrical Construction which is one of a series of National Electrical Installation Standards (NEIS) that describe what constitutes "good workmanship" in multiple facets of the electrical industry.
