Question:
I have a mash tun striping still to wire. 480 volts 150 amp do I need GFCI protection on the circuit ? what section covers the still
THOMAS McCarthhy
A
Answer:
Hey Thomas thanks for your question. GFCI protection is not required based on the paraments in 210.8(A) or (B) depending on where the still is located and if a receptacle was used because the voltage is more than 150 volts to ground and the current exceeds 100 amperes. The closest Article would be 670 if the AHJ determines the still meets the definition of Industrial Machinery in 670.2. NFPA 79 is referenced for further information in the Informational Note to 670.1
