Question:
Dear CQD, according to the NEC (2017 or 2020), for a residential home, is it acceptable to have two separate PV systems on two different parts of the roof? Would it be possible to have two separate PV systems, one ground mounted and one roof mounted?
Thanks,
Kevin Kayden
A
Answer:
Kevin, Section 690.4(D) of the 2020 NEC™️ permits the installation of multiple PV systems on the same building or structure. When multiple PV systems are installed and located remote of one another, a directory is required in compliance with Section 705.10, and Section 110.21(B). Additional guidance for the installation of multiple alternate power sources can be found in Article 705 Interconnected Electric Power Production Sources & Article 710 Stand Alone Systems.
