Question:
Charlie Trout Flashbacks Question:
Is there a restriction to the length of conduit that I can run before I am forced to have a fitting or a box? I say no, and I cannot find one. My partner says that you must have a fitting or box every 100 ft. I agree that it is a good idea, but not required to.
A

Charlie Trout Flashbacks Answer:
You are not required (forced) by the NEC to install a box or fitting to facilitate the installation of conductors in a raceway. You are correct it is a good idea, and you are required to install pull points by good design. The NEC is not intended as a design specification and leaves this requirement up to the designer and the well-trained journeyman electricians. Requirements such as 300.18 prevent installing conductors before the run is complete and subsections .24 and .26 in the raceway articles restrict the bend radius and the number of bends between pull points.
