Charlie, I just wanted to add a clarifying note about the clearance over a pool. It is not just the pool itself that clearance is required for, but you must also provide “Clearance in any direction to the water level, edge of the water surface, base of the diving platform, or permanently anchored raft.” Thanks, Tom Adams

NEC® to swimming pools, the clearance specified in Table 680.9(A) Row A, requires
Clearance in any direction to the water level, edge of water surface, base of diving platform, or permanently anchored raft. Thanks for providing this important clarification.
