Question:

Hi Charlie, we are starting the wiring of a project, the decks are built but the facade and roofing is not completed yet. We are going to be installing NM Cable in the walls as the primary branch circuit wiring method. Can the NM Cable be installed prior to the building roof being completed? Thanks in advance, Don Pirky

Answer:

Hello Don, thanks for your question. If the building is not protected from the weather, the NM Cable would potentially be subject to water and moisture. The manufacturer’s installation instructions should provide guidance on whether the NM Cable were rated for exposure to water and moisture. It is always advisable to check with the local AHJ as they have likely encountered this before.
