Question:
Hi CQD, does the code require Tamper Resistant receptacles in a detached garage of a single-family house? Regard, Jay Fischer
A
Answer:
Jay, yes some of the receptacles in a detached garage of a single-family dwelling unit would be required to be Tamper Resistant (TR). Section 406.12 requires TR receptacles to be installed in ALL dwelling unit areas specified in Section 210.52. Section 210.52(G)(1) requires receptacle(s) in an attached or detached garage with electric power. There is an exception to 406.12 that may apply for certain receptacles installed in a garage.
