Question:

I am a big fan of CQD and have followed for many years, My question is in regards to 680.23 (F) (b) , is it permissible to install a grounding terminal block in a pvc junction box for the connection of the equipment grounding conductor from a pool panel board to that j-box which supplies the branch circuits to pool equipment as well as the line side of the pool light transformer, I have not allowed this practice in the past because the pvc j-box is not listed or factory equipped to install a grounding terminal block, some jurisdictions allow it and others do not, I would like to have us all on the same page, thanks for all the great information You provide and thanks in advance for the help with this question. Bud, Senior Inspector

Answer:

Hey Bud thanks for your question and the compliment. You are correct, junction boxes used for underwater luminaires must be listed as swimming pool junction boxes as stated in 680.24(A)(1).
