Question:
What are the requirements for the bonding of above ground swimming pools? I understand the process of bonding when it comes to the pump motor however, there is a discussion in our class regarding the pool shell itself. Most above ground pools have a vinyl liner and the shell is typically covered with a non-conductive, corrosion resistant material.
Thanks for the forum, I start my day with this and it has always been extremely informative. I've even used many of the questions in my classes.

Answer:
Hey Tim thanks for your question and you are welcome. The requirement for equipotential bonding of permanent pools to reduce pool area voltage gradients is in 680.26(A). The pool perimeter surface, including unpaved ones, must also be bonded as stated in 680.26(B)(2). If the pool structure is conductive it is required to be bonded as stated in 680.26(B)(3).Don't forget about the other bonding requirements including the one for the pool water in 680.26(C).
