Question:
I ran into a situation with a home inspector. A GE circuit breaker panel had mostly GE breakers with a couple of different type breakers ,he said all breakers had to be the same brand & wanted them changed ,is this a legitimate code violation
James Jablonski
A
Answer:
Hey James thanks for your question. Panelboard manufacturers provide the types circuit breakers to be used typically on the inside of the enclosure or door. Those are the ones to be used as stated in 110.3(B). There are some circuit breakers manufactured for use in a different manufacturer's panelboard and these are classified for that use. Those circuit breakers will be marked with references to information regarding their use.
